Chervona Kalyna Megaways

In today’s political climate it’s interesting to note that both Russia and Ukraine have very similar folk songs tied to their respective national identities. Russia has “Kalinka”, which is about longing for the homeland, while Ukraine has “Chervona Kalyna”, which is about the same deep yearning. Chervona Kalyna Megaways is a somewhat brave release by Onlyplay, but only if you view it as a political statement. The game itself is unfortunately not as daring, as it’s yet another reskin of their Megaways debut.
We still have the first reskin job, Jack Potter Megaways, fresh in mind, and this is now their third Megaways release with almost no features and no bonus round. Once again, everything hangs on landing line wins on the dynamic grid, and these can be boosted by up to x9 via the Mini Slot Multiplier system. The nationalistic visuals are refreshing, and the soundtrack is, of course, based around the folk song also known as “Red Poppy”. An unusual release in many ways, but we only wish Onlyplay had included at least a bonus round this time.
The symbols pay between 0.5 and 5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and you win by landing 3 to 6 matching symbols on adjacent reels from the uttermost left to the right. Each reel comes with up to 6 positions per spin, and theChervona Kalyna Wild symbolcan appear on reels 2 to 5 to substitute for pay symbols and thus help complete and/or improve line wins.
TheFalcon Scatter symbolpays2x, 10x, 50x, or 500x your stakefor3, 4, 5, or 6 in view anywhereon the grid, but it does not trigger a bonus round in this game, like scatters usually do.
The only feature in this game is theMini Slotseen above the main grid, and it comes with3 reelsand asingle “payline”. It can land amix of single, double, or triple mace symbols, and any mixed combo awards an x1 multiplier (which means no multiplier). If you land matching mace symbols, however, you get awin multiplier of x3, x6, or x9for the current spin.
Onlyplay has certainly chosen an original, unusual, and politically pertinent theme for what amounts to their third Megaways release, we’ll give ‘em that at least. Basing a slot around the song that’s one of the strongest symbols of the Ukrainian national identity is bold in today’s global political climate, and we hardly think it will perform too well in the Russian market. That being said, the game itself is hardly that impressive if you look past the “political statement”.
It’s the second reskin of their Megaways debut, Hot & Spicy Megaways, and it’s as barebones as the two predecessors. Everything revolves around the dynamic grid and the Mini Slot Multiplier, which can boost your payouts by up to x9. You might feel a rush of nationalism swell up in you when playing though, and the soundtrack is admittedly enjoyable. The21,870x potentialis solid, no doubt, and anything can happen withup to 46,656 win ways. Still, we hope Onlyplay start including some features soon, and stop taking their company name so literally.
