Almighty Gods

Blueprint has made a visually somewhat dated-looking ‘Book of’ clone with Almighty Gods, but this seems like an intentional attempt to tug at some nostalgic heartstrings. The style is cartoonish, with animated flames on either side, and big white clouds drifting slowly across the blue sky behind the reels. Those familiar with the ‘Book genre’ knows the drill, but the Premium Play option makes this release stand out from the herd.
It seems that mid/high rollers are the target audience, even though the£10 max bet might not be all that impressive for the most hardcore gamblers. If you can afford to go that high however, thePremium Play featureawards you with 1×3 stacked scatter/wilds on all 5 reels in all stages of the gameplay. The95.19 %RTP is a bit of a drawback though, but the50,000x total max winmakes this installment something to consider.
Zeus’ hand holding a lightning bolt is the scatter symbol and the wild symbol in this game. As a wild it steps in for all pay symbols to help you form winning combos. As a wild, it also pays the same as Zeus himself, namely 500x your stake for 5 on a payline. As a scatter, it triggers the bonus round, as well as awarding a scatter win.
Land3, 4 or 5 wild/scattersanywhere to trigger the Bonus Round with10 free spins, and this also awards2x, 20x or 200xyour stake up front, respectively. The almighty Zeus then proceeds to choose the random symbol that will become the expanding symbol during the ‘Book of’ mechanic free spins feature.
If the expanding symbol is a premium symbol, you need only 2 anywhere to trigger the expanding symbol scatter win, while 3 is the minimum for the lower value symbols. This can lead to payouts up to5,000x your stake per free spin, or 50,000x in total. You can retrigger the feature indefinitely, and this is done by landing 3+ scatters on the same free spin.
The Premium Play feature is the only thing that makes this game stick out from the standard ‘Book slot’ formula. If you play with a certain stake, the1x3 wild/scatters land stackedon specific reels as follows:
The stacked scatter/wilds can land either partially or fully in view on the relevant reels. They will also be active in the bonus round, where they will also step in for the chosen expanding symbol if they land fully in view.
We’ve included some smaller base game wins in the 3-minute highlights video, but the real fun starts around 0:38, when we trigger the bonus round with 3 scatters. We got the low value golden laurels as the chosen symbol, and we immediately triggered 10 extra spins. See for yourself how it all played out by hitting the play button.
With so many ‘Book clones’ to compete against, it’s a clever move to carve out your own very specific niche, like Blueprint has attempted with Almighty Gods. It’s completely pointless to choose this clone unless you are going to take advantage of the Premium Play option. Despite the medium volatility, this is not really a good choice for penny punters. However, it’s something to seriously consider for medium to high rollers.
Having5 stacked scatter/wildsreward you with bigger base game payouts, and it can really make a dent in the bonus round. You’re still dependent to a large degree on which special symbol you get though, but keep in mind that the feature does not shut down when you hit5,000x your stake. With unlimited retriggers, you canwin up to 50,000x your stake in total, but the max win iscapped at £250,000either way.
Pros
Cons
Book of 99 – comes with a similar ancient Greece inspired theme, with the focus on Homer’s Odyssey. The 99 % RTP is exceptional, and you’ll collect 99 book scatter/wilds to trigger the bonus round. It can be triggered the regular way also, and the expanding symbol can land payouts up to 5,000x.
Age of the Gods Norse: Book of Dwarves- is a very interesting book type slot from Playtech, and it merges well with their Age of the Gods series. The bonus round comes with expanding 3×3 mega symbols, and you can win up to 10,000x your stake.
Johnan Legendarian- is a visually different ‘Book of’ mechanic slot from Peter & Sons, and you get a new expanding symbol per retrigger. Scatters are collected to trigger a Super version of the bonus round at certain times, and you can win up to 5,000x your stake in both of them.
