Over the Moon

Few subjects are as riddled with conspiracy theories as the moon landing, and the strange and “low-energy” press conference held by the heroes after returning successfully from the mission of the century hardly helped in that regard. Big Time Gaming goes a bit further and takes you Over the Moon instead, but the rockets in this game run out of fuel rather quickly. This means that they have to return to earth, and possibly show up in another game round.
The rockets come with multiplier values, and up to 3 of them can show up next to the grid at random times. This is how you collect and boost meteor prizes that appear on the regular grid, and there are two tiers to the bonus round. They come with progressive rocket multipliers that increase by +1 or +2 per new rocket that shows up, and sky is not even the limit when this feature kicks into high gear. The max win is limited to13,570xthough, and Over the Moon is another solid BTG installment.
The premium symbols pay between 1.5 and 50 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and you can landWild symbolson reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 only. The wild steps in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins, but it cannot substitute for battery, meteor, nor scatter symbols. Winning symbols are removed and replaced via theReactions mechanic, and this feature continues for as long as your winning streak lasts.
Rockets can appear on the left-hand side at random times, and you can getup to 3 rocketsat the same time. The rockets come withmultipliers of x1, x5, or x10in the base game, and they also come withup to 3 fuel cellseach. Rockets are removed per reaction as their fuel cells run out, and each multiplier rocket loses one fuel cell per reaction.
You can also landMeteor Symbolswithcash prizes up to 100x your stake, and the meteor prizes are collected once per Rocket (if present at the same time). The meteor prizes are also boosted by the rocket multiplier per collecting rocket. To be clear, the rocket multipliers do not boost regular line wins, so only the meteor prizes are affected.
You need3 scattersin view to trigger theBonus Round, and this gives you12 free spins. You get+2 additional spinson top of thatper additional triggering scatter, and the bonus round comes with aprogressive Rocket Multiplierwith no upper limit. It starts at x1, and it increases by+1 per new rocketthat comes into view. The rocket multipliers boost meteor prizes as before.
Another difference from the base game is that you can landBattery Symbols on reel 6, and this lights up all 3 fuel cells on all present rockets. You win+4 extra spinsfrom3 scattersin view, and+2on top of thatper additional retriggering scatter.
You can trigger anEnhanced versionof the bonus round if at least one of the triggering scatters are enhanced, and this gives you12 free spinsas well. The difference from the regular bonus round is that therocket multipliers start at x2, and they increment by+2 per new rocketthat appears. Non-UK players can buy theregular bonus roundfor70x the stake, and theenhanced featurefor140x the stake.
TheWin Exchange featureis available in some jurisdictions, and winning80x your stakeor more in the base game allows you to purchase the bonus round for 80x your stake. If you winbetween 25 and 79x your stake, however, you cangamblesome or all of it to win 12 free spins.
You get a decent taste of the base game, including a rocket or two, before we purchase the enhanced version of the bonus round at 0:48 into the 3:47-minute highlights video. We got plenty of rocket multiplier action, and you can check it all out for yourself by hitting the play button below.
There is no doubt that Big Time Gaming has lived up to their name (and then some) by now, but we’re unsure if adopting this somewhat glossy and archaic gemstone style as their “default” theme is a good idea for the future. It makes each game look too similar and generic, with a somewhat cold and impersonal vibe. Perhaps it’s time to break out of this shell, as they certainly have the resources to make each game shine in more unique ways.
That being said, Over the Moon is a clever Megaways release that does stick out from the herd due to the innovative Multiplier Rocket Meteor Prize Boost/Collect system. It’s admittedly good fun when one or more rockets show up to collect and boost prizes, and even more so when the rocket multipliers keep increasing in the bonus round. It’s a clever system for sure, and it can lead to payoutsup to 13,570x your stake. Not the most daring potential we’ve seen from BTG, perhaps, but you get a solid 96.55 % RTP to boot (with no RTP ranges).
